La guitarra flamenca de Yerai Cortés

In anticipation of Yerai Cortés’ concert at Theatro Circo, we are screening the documentary La guitarra flamenca de Yerai Cortés (2024), the acclaimed directorial debut of Antón Álvarez, better known as C. Tangana. The documentary is an intimate and cathartic portrait of the talented guitarist Yerai Cortés and his family, using music as a means to confront a family secret and explore themes of identity, love and forgiveness. Considered one of the most ‘interesting and thoughtful’ music documentaries of recent years by Fotogramas, the film won the Goya Award for Best Documentary in 2025, as well as Best Original Song. Its relevance in the Hispanic and flamenco world lies in its delicate and contemporary look at gypsy culture, the tradition of flamenco and the need for its musical expression to survive for new generations.
