Camerata Atlântica e Eduarda Melo | (En)cantos e (An)danças

Camerata Atlântica’s tenth anniversary celebrations will take place between November 2023 and December 2024, through the Bridges to the World Concert Season under the patronage of the Directorate-General for the Arts DGArtes and the City Councils of the 5 cities to be visited.

The program of the celebrations includes a competition/laboratory for young composers, from which five pieces will be selected to be performed during the concert season and one of which will be included on the next Camerata Atlântica CD.

At the concert in Braga, in addition to the world premiere of a piece by one of the young composers selected, we will include different composers such as Eurico Carrapatoso, Anne Victorino d’Almeida, Sérgio Azevedo and Constança Capdeville.

This program takes us back to the idea of beginnings, of childhood, both of art and of its themes. “In the beginning was not the Word”, but sound, music. Sound before speech, childhood before adulthood, the age of reasoning enunciated by speech. Songs and dances that, in a child’s vision, become enchantments and wanderings. First we are enchanted, then we walk, and only at the end do we speak.
