No Woman’s Land
Laurent Berger

In the story of Skočiđevojka, a coastal town in Montenegro, we meet Ruža, a woman in search of freedom in a patriarchal world where this struggle is a chimera. In No Woman’s Land, this Montenegrin legend serves as a starting point, crystallizing an artistic rebellion orchestrated by five women who turn this and their own history into an amusement park and in which they create material for activism, inventing a world where their passions take the place they desire.

Sexual Theatre – Feminist Readings of Classics is a cooperation project between four European partners – the Bosnian National Theatre in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Theatre City Festival in Montenegro, the Paul-Valéry University in France and Faz Cultura in Portugal. Seeking to create a feminist reinterpretation of literary classics from these countries, international pairs of directors and playwrights collaborated with local casts and women’s rights organizations throughout 2024 to create four new shows based on original texts, which are now touring the partner countries in the form of an itinerant festival.
