Nôt
Marlene Monteiro Freitas
Inspired by One Thousand and One Nights, Marlene Monteiro’s NÔT presents itself as a miniature performance conceived for vast spaces, bounded by one wall of people and another of stones. On this unique stage unfolds a fable built upon an accumulation of tales — stories of love, war, journeys, and beasts — that serve as weapons of survival in a duel against a petrified heart.
These tales-of-lament honor the absent and explore dichotomies such as life and death, imprisonment and freedom, reality and desire. Through an imaginary mirror that multiplies and projects the enchantment, the stage transforms, layer by layer, into shadows and scents. Between those who listen and those who narrate, NÔT evokes the urgency of storytelling as a vital act of resistance, survival, and transformation, where each narrative unfolds infinitely into another.
