Supracasa Open Call

Applications for the third edition of the Supracasa programme will be open from 1 September to 16 October. With a total budget of €55,000, this new edition brings together Theatro Circo, Teatro Académico de Gil Vicente and Teatro das Figuras.

Supracasa is a programme supporting artistic creation in the field of the performing arts in Portugal. It is dedicated to the public presentation of original, previously unpresented projects by emerging artists and collectives, fostering original artistic languages that engage with themes shaping our contemporary experience. The programme was originally conceived as part of Braga 25 Portuguese Capital of Culture.

For the 2026–2027 edition, Supracasa is divided into two separate open calls: one for the creation of work for children and young audiences, and another for general audiences. Proposals must fall within the fields of theatre, contemporary dance, performance, contemporary circus, or interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary practices.

The open call for the creation of a performing arts project for children and young audiences is a partnership between Theatro Circo and Teatro das Figuras, in Faro. One project will be selected and awarded €25,000, including artistic residencies at both Theatro Circo and Teatro das Figuras, with performances scheduled at both venues in October and November 2027.

The open call for the creation of a performing arts project for general audiences is a partnership between Theatro Circo, Teatro Académico de Gil Vicente, and Teatro das Figuras. One project will be selected and awarded €30,000. The selected artists will undertake residencies at the three partner theatres, and the production will premiere in October 2027, with performances at all three co-producing venues.

The open calls are aimed at emerging artists and organisations, defined as those who have created and publicly presented between one and four artistic works to date.
