Braga En’ Cena: The Brothers Menaechmus

The famous play by the Roman playwright Plautus, The Brothers Menaechmus or simply Menaechmi, premieres at Theatro Circo—in a co-production by Nova Comédia Bracarense and Projeto Expressar 2026—is a historic play that inspired great masters of world literature, such as Luís de Camões, William Shakespeare, and Molière.

The story begins with the tragic loss of a son in a distant land, but quickly turns into a hilarious comedy of errors. Separated in childhood, the twin brothers—who share exactly the same name—cross paths again without realizing it. The inevitable encounters and misunderstandings set off a nonstop succession of mix-ups, twists, and adventures.
