Official celebrations of AGP’s 95th anniversary

The Portuguese Guides Association (AGP) celebrates its 95th anniversary in 2026, a milestone of particular significance in the history of Guiding in Portugal and an opportunity to mark the progress made over almost a century in the training and education of children and young people. As part of the national commemorations, the region of Braga has been chosen to host the national celebration, a recognition that is directly linked to the region’s size and representativeness within the Association.

The formal ceremony takes place on International Day of the Girl, a particularly symbolic date for an Association which, for almost a century, has been working for the development and empowerment of girls and young women, promoting their autonomy, participation and involvement in society. This is an opportunity to publicly recognise the value of Girl Guiding and its contribution to the holistic development of the younger generations, whilst fostering intergenerational connections and bringing together children and young people from the region, leaders, former Girl Guides, partner organisations and representatives from various institutions.
