6 €Waiting for Godot – a title that has become proverbial all over the world. Perhaps no other play in the 20th century has had such an expressive and global reach. It’s legitimate to say that, on first night of this “tragicomedy in two acts”, Samuel Beckett completely changed not only dramatic literature but also the condition of the theatre itself. On a road, by a tree, two down and out creatures, straight out of vaudeville or silent films, keep themselves entertained with games and provocations, laughing and crying, debating everything: a pair of boots, the Gospels, suicide…They wait for someone who doesn’t come, who never comes: Godot, a mystery character that Beckett always refused to identify with God, because what interested him more than what we wait for, was what happens while we wait.By: Samuel Beckett | Direction: Gábor Tompa | Translation: Francisco Luís Parreira | Set Design and wardrobe: Andrei Both | Actors: João Melo, Maria Leite, Mário Santos, Rodrigo Santos and Vicente MeloEstimated duration: 2h20
