- Jorge Palma is a rare case in Portugal. Composer and performer admired by his colleagues, loved by the public, too famous for the role of an obscure genius, too genuine and rebellious to be a predictable and formatted musician. His life journey can always be observed along with music. An accomplished pianist, he began to learn to play this instrument when he was only six years old. During adolescence and alongside his erudite training, he began to take an interest in rock'n'roll, and in general American and English popular music. During the 1970s and early 1980s, his artistic career was divided between his first phonographic editions in Portugal and the streets and metro carriages of European cities such as Paris and Copenhagen, where he faced the public with guitar in hand. He finished the Higher Piano Course in 1990 and the following year he released the emblematic album 'Só'. In the same decade he formed 'Palma's Gang' and was part of projects such as 'Rio Grande' or 'Cabeças no Ar'. Throughout his career, he released several original albums, composed hits and added gold records, having reached the double platinum mark with “Voo Nocturno”. His work contains widely transversal songs with themes such as “Frágil”, “Deixa-me Rir”, “Dá-me Lume” or “Encosta-te a mim”, which have become timeless hymns.Friday
