- Hide to Seek
Júlio CerdeiraHide to Seek + Limbo Pass €15
Frente e Verso invites a prismatic gaze, a crossed perspective, based on the premise that we coexist in the same Time - we are Contemporary - and, therefore, we are concerned with similar themes, which we approach based on narratives and vocabularies that result from this same historical context.
Hide to Seek aims to think of the mask as the crystallization of an expression, state of mind or (id)entity, but also as a possibility of (de)identification for the emergence of a distinct corporeality. In a tense, ritual game of hide and seek, the body redefines itself with each gesture, allowing itself to be transformed by its successive repositioning. A clear dialog is sought between a watertight form and an alterable form, between the singular and the collective, which allows the mask to be imprinted on the face and otherness to be invoked in the body.
Hide to Seek, by Júlio Cerdeira, and LIMBO, by Victor de Oliveira, are the shows selected for Frente e Verso 2025, for the way they explore the expression or concealment of identity(ies), as a tool for transformation or a place of uncertainty and anxiety.
