Um Conto Japonês (A Japanese Tale) is a show for all children inspired by Sophia de Mello Breyner's short story A Árvore (The Tree), which in turn was inspired by an old Japanese tale. A matrioshka of tales that thus passes through our hands to reach your senses.
Um Conto Japonês (A Japanese Tale) tells the story of a tree sacred to the inhabitants of a small island in Japan and its people's relationship with nature, tradition and the legacy of their ancestors. It also talks about the impermanence of life and how everything transforms into everything else, so that what now disappears can nourish what is yet to be born.
From A Árvore (The Tree) by Sophia de Mello Breyner
Directed by Fernando Mota
Performed by Miguel Brás and Sílvia Morais
Duration 40 minutes
