CORDÃO is a choir made up of cancer patients and friends. It sounds strange, but cancer is just like that: it turns your world upside down and everything seems to stop making sense. Friends, here, are all those who are close by: the partner, the sister, the son, the mother, the friend. Those who help carry the weight of the word “oncological” and all that it brings with it. Figuratively, a cord is also something that unites, that binds. With the main aim of combating the social isolation of cancer patients and their caregivers, this CORDÃO wants to connect people, sewing together new ways of living and looking at cancer.
The first public presentation of CORDÃO will take place at Theatro Circo's Main Hall, as part of the anniversary, in an installation format created from the contributions of the different voices that echoed in the creation sessions that have been taking place weekly since January.Artistic director Joana Machado Araújo and Ricardo Baptista Technical director Catarina Portela
Project supported under the 3rd edition of the PARTIS & Art for Change initiative, promoted by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and the “la Caixa” Foundation.
