109º Anniversary Theatro Circo | Bate Fado – Jonas&Lander
Choreographer duo Jonas&Lander present one of the most acclaimed Portuguese dance shows of recent years, having performed in several countries, at venues such as the Centre Pompidou (France) and the Seoul International Dance Festival (South Korea).

Bate Fado is a hybrid show between dance and a music concert with nine performers: four dancers, four musicians and a fado singer who is also a dancer. Like most urban musical currents, such as Samba or Flamenco, Fado also had its own dances. In Lisbon, the dance that had the greatest expression was the Fado Batido, a dance based on energetic and virtuoso tap dancing. In Bate Fado, Jonas&Lander set out to reinterpret and recover the act of tap dancing in Fado, where the dance takes on the quality of a percussion instrument, in dialogue with the voice and guitars. Bate Fado aims to be a first step towards recovering the dance that Fado has lost.
