Absoluto
Mariana Leite Soares
ABSOLUTO, by Mariana Leite Soares, presents a listening experience that explores the everyday consequences of the concept of pitch, focusing on the solitary experience of those with perfect pitch who are unable to ignore the frequencies they hear. The starting point is mundane coincidences, such as the sound of a cell phone notification that overlaps with the key of a song.
The performance places the audience within a technical setup, highlighting the anatomical and sexual terminology used to distinguish plugs and connectors. Furthermore, the work challenges the conservatism and the myth of superiority associated with classical music, questioning the rigid formality imposed on gestures, attire, and posture. ABSOLUTO invites reflection on the prejudice associated with deviating from that very norm, revealing an intimate soundscape that, for many, goes entirely unnoticed.
