I heard singing

On 26 November 2026, Braga Fora presents a unique show to mark the release of the album I heard singing (‘Ouvi Cantar’). The voices of Braga Fora will be joined by Capicua, Gisela João and Celina da Piedade in a vibrant fusion of tradition and innovation. The show is the result of an intense creative process developed within the community over several months, to celebrate the strength, memory and resilience of women. From folk songs to singer-songwriter music, women’s voices take centre stage, asserting themselves as both an artistic expression and a collective statement.

Braga Fora – Women’s Community Choir was founded in 2024, the year the year of the 50th anniversary of April Revolution in Portugal. Currently formed by 90 members, the project is dedicated to vocal experimentation, with a particular focus on the role of women in culture and the arts. The repertoire draws on collections of traditional Portuguese music and songs written by its singer-songwriters and/or created within the Braga Fora project.
