Cesária Évora Orchestra
With Ceuzany, Elida Almeida, Lucibela e Teófilo Chantre
The Cesária Évora Orchestra comes to PARAÍSO to pay tribute to the legendary “Barefoot Diva”, the greatest icon of Cape Verdean music. Created to preserve Cesária Évora’s legacy, the orchestra brings together musicians who accompanied her on her major international tours, keeping alive the spirit and authentic arrangements of her songs.
This concert revisits timeless classics of morna and coladeira, blending the acoustic tradition that defined her music with the energy and contemporary arrangements developed by this new ensemble. Leading the performance are Elida Almeida, Lucibela and Ceuzany—widely recognised today as three of Cape Verde’s finest voices—joined on stage by acclaimed singer-songwriter and guitarist Teófilo Chantre, one of Cesária Évora’s closest collaborators and most celebrated composers. Together, they reinterpret the repertoire of this enduring artist with profound respect and heartfelt nostalgia.
