Contexto
António Brito Guterres and Maria Manuel Oliveira
In the Contexto series, we present a series of moderated conversations between two guests whose academic, political or activist backgrounds intersect with themes explored in a production from Theatro Circo’s programme.
This session is based on the documentary performance Habitar, by the Hotel Europa company, which portrays the housing crisis through the stories of real people. In this conversation, we will reflect, together with António Brito Guterres and Maria Manuel Oliveira, on the origins of this serious crisis – its political, economic and social implications for people’s lives – and consider public policies that enable us to reclaim cities as networks of collective and accessible spaces, as well as ensuring guaranteed and universal housing.
António Brito Guterres is a social worker and PhD candidate in Urban Studies, with a career marked by the coordination of various territorial, cultural and urban development projects.
Maria Manuel Oliveira is an architect, a graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Porto. She has taught at the School of Architecture at the University of Minho, where she has developed projects and research in the field of urban planning.
