Focusing on the Haskell Free Library and Opera House – a unique municipal site that straddles the jurisdictions of Canada and the United States – the work continually recasts the border as at once powerful yet facile, absurd yet lethal.

Rubber Coated Steel

Set in a facility designed with one specific function – to fire ammunition and silence the sound of the bullets fired – Lawrence Abu Hamdan’s Rubber Coated Steel (2016) is a video work which presents the fictitious trial of an actual murder case.

The show is part of the index 2024 – art and technology biennial program.

The INDEX Biennial of Art and Technology is part of the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the April Revolution.
