INDEX: Arkadi Zaides

TALOS is the name of a collaborative pilot programme developed by the European Union, which brought together fourteen institutions to design a surveillance system capable of being deployed immediately to any location within the EU. The programme, developed between 2008 and 2013, envisaged the deployment of semi-autonomous robots capable of operating in physical spaces and across borders. But TALOS never got off the ground — it was merely a test of the technological capabilities of those involved.

Since 2016, the artist Arkadi Zaides has been bringing together choreographers, playwrights and audiovisual artists for a project of the same name that explores the relationship between movement, cutting-edge technologies and the future of geographical borders, based on the dynamics of action -reaction, limits and transgression, paralysis and mobility.
