Indigo Quintet

Formed in 2018, the Indigo Quintet—comprising Pedro Teixeira (soprano saxophone/oboe/English horn/duduk), Tiago Machado (guitar), Ricardo Januário (cello), Jorge Castro (double bass) and Pedro Gonçalves de Oliveira (drums)— has established itself as one of the most unique projects on the new Portuguese instrumental music scene, exploring soundscapes where contemporary classical music, jazz and improvisation intertwine. The quintet has been consolidating its trajectory through concerts, projects and artistic residencies that prioritise joint and collaborative creation in dialogue between different musical languages.

In this concert, the Indigo Quintet presents the world premiere of a set of new works that will feature on their upcoming album, following Indigo Session (2018) and Labirinto (2022), currently in the recording phase. These new pieces delve deeper into the group’s sonic universe, exploring textures and atmospheres, spaces for improvisation and open forms of musical composition.
