Singer Maria João, pianist André Mehmari and double bassist Carlos Bica have come together for a unique collaboration, born out of an invitation from Theatro Circo. This unmissable show brings together three leading figures of contemporary jazz to present original compositions and reinterpretations of iconic standards at this twelfth edition of Julho é de Jazz.

Maria João is a leading figure in improvised music. With a career spanning 40 years and collaborations with the likes of Bobby McFerrin and Gilberto Gil, she is the only Portuguese artist to have been nominated for the European Jazz Prize, standing out for her iconic voice and intensity. André Mehmari, a leading figure in creative Brazilian music with Latin Grammy nominations, brings a discography of over 55 albums that blend jazz with orchestral music, having worked with legends such as Milton Nascimento. Carlos Bica, a pillar of European jazz and leader of the acclaimed AZUL trio, completes the line-up. Having been voted Best National Jazz Album on several occasions, Bica has collaborated with figures such as Ray Anderson and Carlos do Carmo, cementing this trio as a historic gathering on stage.
