Laurie Anderson with Sexmob
After almost 20 years, Laurie Anderson returns to Theatro Circo with Republic of Love, a show that began as an invitation to a festival in Vienna focused on the rise of fascism in Europe. Challenged to explore the relationship between government and love, Laurie Anderson created a performance that combines narrative and music. Accompanied by the New York jazz ensemble Sexmob, the artist reinvents themes such as Big Science and Language Is A Virus, which take on new contexts in 2026. Integrating thoughts from figures such as Allen Ginsberg and Bob Dylan, the work asserts itself as a celebration of freedom.
Since the success of Oh Superman (1981), Laurie Anderson’s career has been marked by a discography full of collaborations with figures such as Brian Eno and Lou Reed. The first artist-in-residence at NASA and honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2024 Grammys, Anderson remains one of today’s most vital storytellers.
