Almost 20 years on, Laurie Anderson returns to Theatro Circo with Republic of Love, a show that emerged from an invitation to the Vienna Festival, which focused on the rise of fascism in Europe. Challenged to explore the relationship between government and love, Laurie Anderson has created a performance that blends narrative and music. Accompanied by the New York jazz ensemble Sexmob, the artist reinvents tracks such as Big Science and Language Is A Virus, which take on new contexts in 2026. Incorporating the thoughts of figures such as Allen Ginsberg and Bob Dylan, the work stands as a celebration of freedom.

Since the success of Oh Superman (1981), Laurie Anderson’s career has been marked by a discography brimming with collaborations with artists such as Brian Eno and Lou Reed. As NASA’s first artist-in-residence and recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2024 Grammys, Anderson remains one of today’s most vital storytellers.
