Retrospetiva Margarida Cordeiro & António Reis – Trás-os-Montes

For 70 working days, in three phases, starting in September 1974, António Reis and Margarida Martins Cordeiro filmed Trás-os-Montes, a feature-length film in color and 16mm. It took ten thousand kilometers to make and ten months to edit. The interpretation belongs to the inhabitants of the perimeters of Bragança and Miranda do Douro.

For the month of August, Lucky Star – Cineclube de Braga has scheduled weekly screenings of a retrospective dedicated to Margarida Cordeiro and António Reis. Showing six films, this is a rare opportunity to get to know the three feature films and the medium-length film that make up the work and the most important part of the legacy of the authors from Trás-os-Montes. The influence of the pair of directors is immeasurable on cinema in Portugal and the rest of the world, starting with the repercussions of viewing their films and continuing through their work as teachers of various directors in our country. Cordeiro and Reis gave references and a past to those who didn’t have one, rescuing popular culture and giving it a voice and a platform.
