CAPRA – or how to say hello to fear

A performance inspired by an ancestral pagan tradition rooted in the collective memory of Romania and Moldova — the New Year’s goat, a ritual of renewal. A CAPRA that seeks to mirror our innermost selves — those parts of us that, precisely because they are so unknown, frighten us. “Fear blocks me, the unknown blocks me, but not here.” CAPRA is the connection between past and future, a “CAPRA–bridge” that allows us, collectively, to question what lies beyond Fear. — Roxana Ionesco

Roxana Ionesco is an artist and theatre director, a graduate of ESTC and co-founder of BUBURUZA. She has created works including DEUS É TRANSCENDÊNCIA ATRAVÉS DO CORPO (2022), 10. Abandona o medo – escolhe amar (2024) and Morte às Fantasmas (2024), and has worked with Mónica Calle, Tiago Vieira, Ana Borralho & João Galante, among others.

CAPRA – or how to say hello to fear is Roxana Ionesco’s latest creation, developed as part of Supracasa, and was presented at Theatro Circo’s Pequeno Auditório on 17 April. The performance was also part of the programme celebrating Theatro Circo’s 111th anniversary.
