The story goes that, during a rehearsal with a Great Actress, a young actress confessed how much she admired her. The Great Actress asked whether the young woman worked at the theatre. She replied that she was appearing in the same play. “Oh, really?” said the Great Actress. “I’ll notice.” (“Hei-de reparar” in Portuguese.)
In this performance, Raquel S. and the Noitarder company turn their attention to the lives and stories of Portuguese actresses, imagining possible places for us to occupy today. Who were they? What did they do? What habits, mannerisms and techniques did they leave behind — or see erased — from the history of theatre?
The performance was presented at Theatro Circo’s Main Auditorium on 2 May 2025, as part of the Braga 25 Portuguese Capital of Culture programme, as well as the celebrations marking Theatro Circo’s 110th anniversary.
