Audience Company

The audience’s role in the construction of meaning

11 a.m. Theatro Circo

In 2026, Companhia de Espectadores (Audience Company) enters a new phase. After several seasons devoted to exploring individual works and performances, the project now broadens its scope, becoming an informal school of dramaturgical analysis.

More than a space for discussing specific productions, Companhia de Espectadores is conceived as a laboratory for thinking about the performing arts—a place to experiment, question and learn how to read performance in all its dimensions: body, text, image, sound, space, time and the relationship with the audience. Through meetings and conversations, the group investigates the mechanisms behind artistic creation: how dramaturgy is constructed, the choices that shape a composition, and the ways in which audiences contribute to the meaning of a performance.

We will continue to watch, listen and discuss—but also to reflect on the performing arts as both a language and a living practice. Rather than an academic course, the project seeks to foster a community of critical learning: a meeting place for makers and audiences, for theory and practice, for analysis and creation, open to anyone wishing to explore performance from the inside out.
