Elisabete Matos, Maciej Pikulski and Pedro Ribeiro
Female Dreamlike: Your gaze upon me
This encounter between music and words, between dream and presence, is a celebration of the female universe seen through the eyes of another. Three renowned artists: soprano Elisabete Matos, pianist Maciej Pikulski, and director Pedro Ribeiro, collaborate on a programme that reflects on the imagery of song through works spanning more than a century of musical creation, from Romanticism to the 20th century. From Adelbert von Chamisso’s poem Love and the Life of Women, which inspired Robert Schumann’s famous cycle, to Berta Alves de Sousa, Fernando Lopes-Graça, and Astor Piazzolla, the repertoire traces a path through different eras and cultures that define the female dream world.
Elisabete Matos, whose international career has taken her to the most prestigious stages in the world, lends her powerful voice to Maciej Pikulski, an internationally renowned pianist of unique talent, to create the perfect foundation for her voice to resonate. Completing this artistic triangle is Pedro Ribeiro, an opera director with an innovative vision and an undeniable talent for creating scenic environments that elevate the musical experience to new heights.
How my heart beats so anxiously and gladly!
If only I could put it into words;
Come, and hide your face here on my breast,
So I may whisper my joy into your ear.
– A. von Chamisso
