Hermeto Pascoal & Grupo

Hermeto Pascoal, iconic Brazilian composer and multi-instrumentalist, recognised worldwide as the “Wizard of Sounds”, performs in Braga for a concert where he demonstrates how his genius transcends conventional musicality. Winner of two Latin Grammys and holder of several honorary doctorates, Hermeto is renowned for leading influential groups such as Quarteto Novo and his own “Grupo” since the 1970s.

His global acclaim was cemented by performances at prestigious festivals such as Montreux in 1979. In the early 1970s, Miles Davis dubbed him “the most impressive musician in the world”. With over 10,000 compositions, including the Calendário do Som project, where he created one piece per day, Hermeto is one of the most prolific and inventive creators of our era.

His musical approach is unique, exploring “Universal Music” and “Aura Music”, seeing music in everything from the sounds of nature (water, birds) to everyday objects and the melody of human speech. Pascoal believes in the freedom and universality of music, and his performances are described as unforgettable sensory experiences that transport the audience to a sound universe without borders.
