Supracasa
Supracasa is a support programme for artistic creation in the performing arts, centred on co-production, artistic residencies and the public presentation of new productions. The programme was created out of a commitment to creating the conditions for new ideas to develop into works and reach audiences.
Launched as part of Braga 25 Portuguese Capital of Culture, Supracasa supports creative processes in the performing arts, accompanying artists and collectives as they develop original projects and artistic languages capable of engaging with the issues of the present day.
Across its editions, the programme has supported projects in theatre, contemporary dance, performance, contemporary circus and interdisciplinary practices, reinforcing the commitment of these organisations to artistic creation and to the renewal of the national performing arts landscape.
The open call for the new 2026/2027 edition, resulting from a collaboration between Theatro Circo, Teatro Académico de Gil Vicente and Teatro das Figuras, is open until 16 October and can be found here.
For this edition, Supracasa is divided into two separate open calls: one aimed at the creation of work for children and young audiences, and another for general audiences. Proposals must fall within the fields of theatre, contemporary dance, performance, contemporary circus, or interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary practices.
2025/2026 Edition
This is the year in which the three new productions selected as part of the second edition of Supracasa are being presented. Developed by emerging artists throughout 2025, the projects presented this year explore different performing arts languages and reflect the programme’s commitment to contemporary artistic creation. The first project to be presented was CAPRA – or how to say hello to fear, by Roxana Ionesco. In October, Assimétrico, by Beatriz Valentim, and GoldenLady, by Mercedes Quijada, will be presented.
2024/2025 Edition
In 2025, Supracasa presented five new productions at Theatro Circo, resulting from the programme’s first edition, launched in 2024 with the aim of supporting artists and companies from the region. The projects — Hide to Seek, by Júlio Cerdeira, Duelo, by Joana Providência, Hei-de Reparar., by Raquel S., Búzio, by Ana Baptista, and Adoçar, by Ana Isabel Castro — explored different performing arts languages and continued the programme’s commitment to contemporary artistic creation and the development of new work.
At the same time, 2025 marked the beginning of a new edition of Supracasa, this time with a national scope, with three new projects selected to undertake artistic residencies throughout the year and present their work in 2026.
